How to get to Jujuy: flights, Salta, roads and JUJ airport
Jujuy has its own airport and road links with Salta, Buenos Aires, Bolivia and Chile. Reaching the province is only the first transport decision: you still need a reliable transfer to the base you actually chose.

Flying in: JUJ airport is in Perico
Gobernador Horacio Guzmán International Airport is in Perico, about 33 km from San Salvador de Jujuy according to Argentina.gob.ar. Check current arrivals and departures with the airport source and arrange the onward transfer separately; this guide does not assume a fixed shuttle, taxi or remise frequency.
From Buenos Aires: fly or plan a long overland journey
Flying cuts the travel time dramatically. By road, Argentina.gob.ar gives 1,543 km between Buenos Aires and San Salvador de Jujuy as a reference, so bus or car travel is a genuine long-distance journey. Compare the complete door-to-door trip rather than only the headline fare.
From Salta: neighbouring provinces, not one automatic base
Argentina’s national reference places Salta city about 99 km from San Salvador de Jujuy. Combining both provinces can work very well, but returning to Salta every day can add unnecessary mileage if Purmamarca, Tilcara or Humahuaca are your main goals. Compare a base inside Jujuy before booking every night in Salta.
After arrival: separate the main corridor from the final transfer
RN9 structures much of the San Salvador–Quebrada–La Quiaca axis, while RN52 leaves Purmamarca towards Salinas, Susques and Paso de Jama. Without a car, confirm both the inter-town connection and the final transfer: reaching Humahuaca does not mean reaching Hornocal, and reaching Purmamarca does not mean reaching Salinas.
Confirm flights, road conditions, border status and the final transfer with the relevant official source or provider before travelling.
