Jujuy in 7 days: planning a week without unnecessary mileage

Seven days create room to see more of Jujuy, but they do not turn the province into one linear circuit. A useful week chooses which region to add and changes base only when that genuinely removes repeated travel.

First decide which kind of week you want

A Quebrada-and-Puna week is organised differently from one that adds the Yungas. The Quebrada and Salinas route share part of the northern axis and RN52, while Calilegua sits on another corridor with its own logistics. Pick two major goals before booking every night. That decision alone prevents a great deal of unnecessary backtracking.

Give the Quebrada several days, not several hours

Purmamarca, Tilcara, Maimará and Humahuaca can form a three- or four-day block at a reasonable pace. Use the individual guides to decide what deserves its own time. Salinas and Hornocal are different high-altitude outings; do not add them merely to complete a list. The planner can exclude or explicitly consider them.

Use the remaining days for one coherent extension

Use the rest for San Salvador and the Valleys, continue into the Puna, or dedicate a second base to the Yungas and Calilegua. Each choice changes accommodation and transport. If you choose the Yungas, do not treat them as a quick add-on from Tilcara; if you choose the Puna, review the complete corridor, vehicle range and current road conditions before setting out.

A week works better with margin

Keep time for arrival, departure, weather changes, rest or a visit that takes longer than expected. The Jujuy360 planner does not fill every day with incompatible destinations; spare time is part of the plan. A week with margin usually survives real-world changes better than a minute-by-minute schedule.

Choose bases to remove repetition, not out of habit

A second base is useful when it removes repeated travel. One well-chosen base may be enough for a Quebrada-focused trip; two can work better when combining the city, Quebrada and another region. Before booking, compare the exact location, arrival and departure transport, and the first movement of the following day.

Select 7 days and your real pace in the planner, then compare one or two bases before booking.
