Jujuy Puna: choosing Salinas, Susques or the northern corridor
The Puna is not one interchangeable day trip. Choosing a corridor helps you separate high-altitude destinations with different connections and travel needs.

Two distinct corridors
Use the Salinas Grandes and Susques guides for the RN52 corridor. La Quiaca is on the northern RN9 route. Do not treat Susques as the next direct stop after Humahuaca without examining the full road journey.
Plan beyond the distance
Make a checklist of confirmed accommodation, operating fuel stops, range, water, warm clothing and communication. Leave room for weather or access changes. Approximate distance in a guide does not describe today’s road conditions or journey time.
Altitude is a separate decision
A village or viewpoint elevation does not describe every high point crossed on the way. A planner selection establishes neither acclimatisation nor medical suitability. Discuss your circumstances with a health professional and check road conditions before travelling.
Before a border crossing, confirm entry requirements, current status and operating hours with official sources.
